An all-round view: Panoramas

To begin with, the simplest panoramas consists of two pictures overlapping to provide a larger than usual view, thus including more of a scene. First, take one picture, keeping your camera perfectly upright, so that the film is perpendicular to the ground, or parallel to any walls or pillars or trees in your picture. Next, swing your camera across the scene until the new image in your viewfinder is overlapping the one you first saw by about one-third. That is easy enough: when you compose your first picture simply not some object about a third of the way in from the edge of your viewfinder, and swing your camera until that object is on the very edge of your viewfinder for the next picture. Then have a print made from each picture, with colour adn density of tone exactly the same in each. All you have to do now is trim away the overlapping parts until your two pictures butt perfectly together to give a wide view- a panaroma. It is often acceptable enough to trim away the overlap by a straight cut from top to bottom of the picture, but the join may be noticeable.

Sony Pictures to release Michael Jackson film

More than 80 hours of rehearsal and behind-the-scenes footage of legendary pop singer Michael Jackson will be released as a movie titled This Is It in theatres across the world on October 30 by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment. The majority of the footages were captured in high definition with digital sound during June at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, California, and The Forum in Inglewood, California, when the late singer was preparing for a series of 50 "This Is It" concerts planned to be presented at the O2 Arena in London. The announcement was made by Michael Lynton, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sony Pictures Entertainment, after Sony received court approval on Monday to bring Michael Jackson to the big screen. Although several studios expressed interest, Sony emerged the winner by agreeing to pay Jackson's estate and AEG Live at least $60 million for the film rights. This Is It, which will provide a unique career retrospective and feature interviews with some of Jackson's closest friends and creative collaborators, is being produced by the estate of Michael Jackson and AEG Live in association with Sony Pictures and Sony Music. Sony Pictures will distribute the film worldwide. The proceeds that the estate earns from the film’s release will benefit the Michael Jackson Family Trust.

Mila fed up with Ashton queries

Remember Mila Kunis? She is the pretty young thing who romanced Ashton Kutcher on the hit TV series 'That 70’s Show'. It’s been four years since the show wrapped up, but questions about Ashton keep coming, and Mila is quite tired of answering them. She says, "Yesterday, a woman asked me, 'So! Was Ashton a prankster on set?' I went, 'Oh my God. For real?' That's when I know the interview's going sour -- when they ask me what it was like kissing Kutcher. The show's been off the air for four years. It's just no longer cute or funny."
